Hits and Misses

This from this week’s City Weekly I think sums up the earlier argument I had in the comments section:

HISS: Outrage Fatigue

First, we learned former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt’s family runs a dubious charitable trust, which more resembles a tax shelter. Then, it was Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, who, for the past two years, has quietly pocketed half a million bucks from banking interests, supposedly to retire debt from his campaign—in 1992! Now we find out that Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, wasn’t above greasing the policy skids for at least three of his lobbyist-brother Joe Cannon’s clients. Incidentally, Joe still owes Chris the $250,000 loaned to Joe’s failed 1992 Senate bid against Bennett. Wonder who’s going to pay that tab.
