Afternoon's Tunes – David Gilmour

Keeping with a theme from yesterday, I present David Gilmour.
David Gilmour is a personal hero of mine. He’s one of the best guitar players I’ve ever heard; both in what he plays and how he plays it. He’s able, somehow, to do more than play a riff: he plays in raw, yet perfectly performed, emotional tones.
After hundreds of plays of anything Gilmour did alone, as a special appearance, or when he was at the helm of Pink Floyd (my favorite incarnation), I still get a kick listening to him play. I never get tired of it.
During Pink Floyd’s quiet spells, David Gilmour has also been a producer (and sometimes concert sound engineer) for a wide variety of acts including former bandmate Syd Barrett, Kate Bush, Grace Jones, The Dream Academy, Tom Jones, Elton John, B.B. King, Paul McCartney, Sam Brown, Jools Holland, Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend, The Who, Supertramp, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Alan Parsons, various charity “supergroups.”
He even maintains his skill and his sound even though he’s been doing this since the 60′s.

I agree. Waters is fine, and I like him, but Gilmour has class.
