Vote Vets Newer Ad: Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat phony
Posted By JM Bell on September 29, 2007
I’m not going to spend a lot of time editorializing about Rush Limbaugh, because the man makes me ill. So, to round up, heres what Crooks and Liars blogged about the giant douchbag:
During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq “phony soldiers.” He made the comment while discussing with a caller a conversation he had with a previous caller, “Mike from Chicago,” who said he “used to be military,” and “believe[s] that we should pull out of Iraq.” Limbaugh told the second caller, whom he identified as “Mike, this one from Olympia, Washington,” that “[t]here’s a lot” that people who favor U.S. withdrawal “don’t understand” and that when asked why the United States should pull out, their only answer is, ” ‘Well, we just gotta bring the troops home.’ … ‘Save the — keeps the troops safe’ or whatever,” adding, “[I]t’s not possible, intellectually, to follow these people.” “Mike” from Olympia replied, “No, it’s not, and what’s really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media.” Limbaugh interjected, “The phony soldiers.” The caller, who had earlier said, “I am a serving American military, in the Army,” agreed, replying, “The phony soldiers.”
Jon Soltz via Huffington Post:
Get the point here, Rush?
You weren’t just flat out wrong, you offended a majority of those of us who actually had the courage to go to Iraq and serve, while you sat back in your nice studio, coming up with crap like this.
My challenge to you, then, is to have me on the show and say all of this again, right to the face of someone who served in Iraq. I’ll come on any day, any time. Not only will I once again explain why your comments were so wrong, but I will completely school you on why your refusal to seek a way out of Iraq is only aiding al Qaeda and crippling American security.

The reason that I hate these kinds of stories is because they’re pointless. “Limbaugh said something offensive!” “Kiss my ass, Limbaugh!” “cupcakes make you fat!”. And unfortunately, in this case, Blowhard in chief Limbaugh’s comments were taken out of context. Specifically, he was speaking of Army Ranger and vocal anti-war activist who claimed to have PARTICIPATED in war crimes Jesse Macbeth, who, as fate would have it, is a fake soldier who washed out of boot camp and never left the country. Limbaugh once admitted that he never tells the whole story because the whole story isn’t interesting, and he’s doing it for ENTERTAINMENT. And, rest assured, this story will give him weeks of entertainment, give a current example of how ‘the left’ will ‘twist’ anything, damage the credibility of vote-vets {DAMN YOU VV! How could you walk into such an obvious ambush?! It’s RUSH LIMBAUGH for Christs’ sake!} and so on. There will be no dialog, or apologies, or understanding, it’ll be more background noise in a country that’s so full of static that Britney losing her kids can bump the slaughter in Myanmar to page 2 of the news. Point, set and match = Limbaugh.
My question is why. Why in the fsck would anyone bother to twist Limbaugh’s daily bullshit fest to this effect when there’s so much crap they could have used legitimately? What a waste.
Sorry Jake, I listened to the audio. They didn’t start talking about that other dude until later. You need a different source than Fox and Friends.
Also, you chucklehead, it’s in context to that MoveOn ballyhoo from last week. Geesh. It’s in CONTEXT. :p
Fox and friends – LOL (good one). You know what I have to say to that?
