Afternoon's Tunes – Chris Rea (for the weekend)

Posted By on September 21, 2007

That Chris Rea is American blows my mind. That Rea couldn’t break the charts in America is even more confusing still. The guy can play the hell out of a guitar and, if you can get over the obligatory 80′s back track (synthesizers really did make almost everything worse, didn’t they?) , his voice sounds like a south delta blues house club jockey, not a limey from Middlesbrough, England.

Anyway, for an 80′s rocker, Rea was over burdened with talent. He’s still a guilty pleasure now. So, since it’s the weekend, ya’ll get four Afternoon’s Tunes (yes, I know the second one isn’t a video.) Unless something comes up over the weekend, I’ll see you Monday.

  1. Another excellent choice. In the 80′s I was stationed in The Netherlands and my Dutch girlfriend had me convinced Rea was Dutch.
