I continue to watch, with a fair amount of disgust, the antics of Blackwater. An article I saw today claims that Blackwater [mercenaries] [operatives] security guards disarmed a group of US Soldiers after a traffic accident. I don’t know if it’s true, but thankfully, the story says they were Army (*snicker*). Still, I remain indignant.

I’m infuriated that Congress and the Executive branch would continue to show their absolute and utter contempt for our Armed Forces. It seems to me that if you’re in charge of your countries’ Military, and you don’t believe they can do the job, you’re NOT DOING YOURS!

Hiring mercenaries is a slap in the face to the troops YOU are supposed to be TRAINING and ARMING! It’s a profound insult to the integrity and honor of the people who’ve pledged their lives to your cause. You, the Congress and Executive branch of the US government, are clearly saying you have no confidence in YOUR ARMED FORCES! It’s perverse beyond reasoning.

HOWEVER, I don’t come to you without a reason (besides a rant) which is implied in my headline: Blackwater is a private company operating in a foreign country. A war zone if you will. They are apparently unaccountable to the US Government and laws, nor are they accountable to the Iraqi Government and laws. Which means, my fellow Marines, you should be stealing their shit.

The cars, the vests, the guns, ammo, radio gear, chewing gum. Take it. Why? Because the US Government says that you’re the authority in town. The Iraqi Government says you’re the authority in town. The mercenaries are, by all accounts, outside the law. You take their gear, and they complain to… who? The Iraqi’s? LOL! The US Military? If your CO is worth a damn, also LOL! Which means… free gear.
