Seriously. I can’t even work up a drop of hostility today, let alone any anger. I know that’s why you regular folks tune in: to feed off my anger, but I got nothing today.
I’m looking for a new job, because mine ends in January, and it’s looking more and more like if I don’t find something soon, I’m going to have to leave town for work. I’m getting plenty of offers from out of town, but, this is where my family is, this is where people already know me and this is home.
It’s tricky being me in Utah. The last couple of times I’ve looked for new work it’s been miserable. I kid you not, nearly every “interview” is some jackass setting it up so that I’ll come in and he can beat me over the head with a Republican / Mormon / Republican Mormon stick, or a multi-level marketing scheme. Anything else usually falls into the “Oh, I see you’ve worked in politics,” frown that guarantees that you wont get the job because you work a lot of short hop jobs as a campaigner.
It’s a shame that you can’t, at the level I’m at, get a job outside of government / politics because you’ve worked in government / politics. The “you’re one of those” looks and tones get old and you end up feeling like Michael Corleone in Godfather III.
I know I’m not going to hell for being a Democrat. A quick read of the Jefferson Bible lets me know that. If some chucklehead wans to argue politics with me, fine, take me to lunch. Don’t drag me into your office when I’m desperate to make a living for my family and then shit all over me. I’m happy to fight with you, but, damn, I’m looking for a job, I have kids at home, so don’t waste my time. The simple fact that I’m a Democrat is a 99% guarantee that I won’t steal office supplies or embezzle company funds, you should be happy I came in.
What do you know … I can get a little angry after all.
Anyway, this is what I’m going through right now. It’s hard to get excited about anything when Christmas looks like a bust this year.
(I just reread this. Man, this is whiny. Sorry about that)

You’ll find something, just throw it out there in the universe, or something. If nothing else, there’s always tequila.
Or scotch.
Maybe it’s time for a creative collaborative business idea that not only bolsters personal finances but also establishes your position of political influence throughout the state?
And, ahem, Nightside folk, you reading this?
what’s your line of work? do you know .asp?
Holly - Never, ever tequila
Misty - Mmmm - Scotch
jasonthe - Pop me an email over the weekend, I’ll call.
jess - I work in politics, but, I am an HTML, XML wizard. Is ASP hard to learn? I’m a quick study. Hey, do you need a commercial about ASP? I can shoot, edit and publish a TV commercial in about 4 hours. LOL
