Because nothing says “thanksgiving” as well as Zydeco. Right?
These tunes are from arguably the best known zydeco player in the history of the United States. I have several of Buckwheat’s albums that are, sadly, albums. Records. Vinyl. I have nothing to listen to them on anymore, so, they sit in the basement and warp.
Buckwheat’s music has long been a standard “cheer up” for me, and, as I face my looming unemployment in January, I’m listening to him a lot. Zydeco isn’t great for a pity party, so, as I grown more maudlin over the next few weeks, I think you’ll see a bit of darker music coming. However, it’s almost the yearly celebration of the white man’s duping of the Native Americans, the prelude to our past and ongoing attempts at genocide, so, not sad tunes here. right?
