It's definitely hard to completely disregard the possible complicity of Bush's "Ally" in this. It works out too well for Musharraf. They operate in a three party system, in which two parties planned to join forces to defeat him. With Buhtto out of the way, the two party coalition will crumble. And it's very easy to prop up the tenets of democracy when you are the only candidate for election.

Republicans will spin the shit out of this one. Rudy waited about 33 seconds after the news broke to hump a microphone and camera. But not addressed in Bush's comments were the billions of dollars we've given Musharraf to prevent this very thing from happening, and what it says about the administrations strategy so far to make the world a safer place for democracy.

"President Bush, vacationing at his Texas ranch, condemned the assassination as a 'cowardly act by murderous extremists.'"

Is that an admission of guilt by Bush?

My first thought when I heard about this was that it sounds like something Bush would set up, in order to keep us in Iraq longer, and keep us from looking into his administration's corruption.
