Evidently Neal B. Hendrickson has decided that he’s had enough of us “Wasatch-Front Northerners” and is asking for Utah’s Dixie to secede from our glorious Deseret union!
Yep, that’s right, folks! One of the new bills that will be considered by the state legislature this session calls for exactly that: A separate state whose northern border would start at the southern end of Utah County.
But don’t take my word for it:
JOINT RESOLUTION CONSENTING TO CREATION OF NEW STATE WITHIN UTAH
WHEREAS, citizens in the more populated areas of northern Utah have many interests that stand in stark contrast to the interests of southern rural areas of the state, which feel they do not have the influence on state policymaking that citizens along the Wasatch Front enjoy
It’s coming down to a civil war between the Confederate Southern Utahn’s, who feel they aren’t being fairly represented in the capital, and the Northerners of the Wasatch Front (would that make us Wasatch-Front Yankees? “Wankees”?). Glory Glory Hallelujah!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI like Wankees. I am proud of Neal for this bill. This is the kind of message bell that actually has a message.
I like Wankees, too. Even more interesting will be the vote.
You do realize that Rep. Hendrickson lives in West Valley City, right?

(Unfortunately whoever runs le.utah.gov has hard-coded 2005 into the URL, but I assure you he is the current Representative of District 33 — take note of the “2007-2008 Legislative Assignments” listed on that page)
Also, the resolution doesn’t call for a new state, it just gives consent for it to be created within our current state borders as required by the U.S. Constitution should such a new state ever be called for.
Wankees? hmmmmm….Wankees…..Wankees.
Well, that word sure beats the hell out of “Perverted Utah Polygamists”, PUPS for short.
Where do I lobby in support of this bill?
No state division, state secession! Google “secession and learn why so many are interested in secession.
