The US House Committee on the Judiciary will be holding a hearing today on: Executive Power and Its Constitutional Limitations, Allegations of Bush Administration Misconduct.
The local hook?
Former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson will be testifying.
It’s on CSPAN right now. http://cspan.org/ or Channel 78 on Comcast (at least in this part of the Salt Lake Valley.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI miss the 1973-74 Senate Watergate Committee. We need an investigative body to uncover the Bush administration’s crimes, with the testimony of people with first-hand knowledge. Neither Rocky Anderson nor any of the other witnesses at today’s hearing are what I would call Bush insiders.
You gotta admit that Bugliosi was worth watching though. That guy has a certain “don’t fuck with me” demeanor that lends his arguments some pizazz.
I’m surprised at all of the references to Lincoln in today’s hearings. I get it, I just thought they could stay more current in their examples.
Every name with an “R” in front of it has made a fool of themselves so far. Historically, the video of these hearings will be an important academic resource for discussing hubris.
Of course I’m TiVo’ing the whole thing.
I liked the guy who introduced and submitted the Bill of Rights into the Congressional Record because, he says, Congress and the Administration seem to have forgotten that it exists!
That and Rocky’s statements on the redirect where he mentions those professors and their “Abysmal Scholarship” and then moves on to quote Ed Firmage. Brilliant.
