I was reading through the Deseret (Republican Party) Newsletter this morning when I stumbled across this quote in a weird write up on the VP watch parties last night.

At the private club, the Democrats had a different perspective on Palin.”She’s showing the public she does not have a grasp on the economy or foreign issues,” said Sheryl Ginsberg. “She’s just being cute.”

You notice the line about the Private Club? This whole article is painted into the false comparison of Republicans as LDS and Democrats as lusty, booze hounds. That’s offensive to me because, over in my end of town, a whole bunch of LDS Democrats had a watch party and there was not a drop of booze or lust to be found.

Here’s a little more:

• At the private club, the Democrats had a different perspective on Palin.
• The State Street bar was filled with people watching the debate while sitting at the edge of pool tables that made it difficult for cocktail waitresses to take orders.
• At Saints and Sinners on State Street, about 80 Democrats, including members of the group Drinking Liberally, raised their glasses and cheered when Palin paused after a Biden response about the war in Iraq.
• The Republicans nibbled on bags of popcorn and sipped soft drinks in front of a projection TV tuned into Fox News. [nibbled? really? who the hell nibbles on popcorn outside of a debutante ball?]
• While most at the bar went after Palin, they praised Biden for not doing the same.

Wow … Republicans sure are holy. Hey, Des News, close your legs, your Joe Cannon is showing.
