JM Bell. I stated that I didn't think Bennion was directly behind the unfounded personal attacks. I am not surprised Bennion knew about them, as I knew his official campaign manager has known.

It is the $6000 guy, I don't know about.

"I’ve talked to Bennion and he very aware that the questions are out there and he hasn’t done anything about it,"

Perhaps Bennion hasn't said anything about the rumors. I would expect not. He has said:

"When my financial disclosures come out you'll see donations from Florida, New Jersey, Missouri," Spencer said. "People have heard me on the radio, and they're sickened by his immigration position. They go online and give me money. They go, 'Stop the Nazi.'"

I object to calling Jason that. My father fought in Europe in WWII. He was awarded the purple heart, 4 bronze starts and 2 presidential unit awards.

I have been to Dachau, the Hiding Place, Ann Frank's hideout. Jason is not a racist.

Those that are blasting Jason Chaffetz, should not be, as he is a voice of reason and is not promoting the ideas he is accused of.

There are supporters of both sides that are much more restrictive than Jason Chaffetz is.

Jason is more a voice of reason compared to:

There are people that want to round up all 12 million illegals, and are mad that Jason DOESN'T want to do that. Jason only wanted facilities where the government wouldn't have to catch and release felons. There are 600,000 they have let go. We wouldn't have to build facilities for that many, as we just need a temporary facility for convicted criminals, to be held prior to deportation.

There are people that don't want anyone new moving in, where Jason wants to fix LEGAL immigration so it doesn't take so long to legally come here.

There are people that think providing any temporary worker visa is wrong, where Jason agrees it is a great way to bring people out of the shadows, get rid of the fake IDs, but this in NO WAY provides a pathway to citizenship in front of those wanting to immigrate who have followed the rules.

@JM Bell: I don't see where you would get that opinion from. I don't see anyone implying anything about who you would vote for. I think most pro-Chaffetz commenters here already knew where you stood. However, you chose to post the questions and I believe the comments here have addressed them pretty well.

I'm not sure why you felt like you had to clarify who you were supporting in this race. I agree with "The Lady Logician" about anonymous posts though; I believe the axiom about familiarity should read, anonymity breeds contempt.

JM - I fully appreciate the fact that you support Mr. Spencer which makes your comments all the more laudable.

I don't care who you support - this kind of garbage has no place in our political culture and it is only fair to recognize people of good will ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE when they act accordingly.

Now does anyone out there have a pumpkin cannon that we can fire both the anti-Spencer and anti-Chaffetz anonymous commenters out of????? J/K!

JM, you forgot to mention "tent cities."

And Arc, could you at least put something original on every blog? The cut and pasting thing is lame.

And I remember when Jason ducked your show. Sissy! Heh.

Somehow, it seems, a few of you think that care about Jason. I don't he's a weak sister with crappy attitude and, personally, I find his positions dangerous.

He's afraid to come on my radio show and has his staffers hang up on me when I call. I've been willing to give him a chance, and he's run away. Even Mark Shurtleff has been on my show.

I've talked to Bennion and he very aware that the questions are out there and he hasn't done anything about it, so, shove that up your ass, arc.

I want to know what these questions are all about. I really do.

The one thing I'm mad about is that the person posting them all over is too chicken to pop up and let themselves be known.

You see my name at the top of this blog because I own everything I say here, but anonymous posters make me angry.

So, if you haven't figured this out yet, VOTE SPENCER 2008!

"Somehow I would doubt that Bennion would not knowingly support this kind of trash."

Too many negatives.

I doubt that the democrat candidate is behind this, but I have my doubts about a couple of others, including the $6000 political consultant Bennion is paying.

It is pretty low to base your entire campaign on trying to smear someone’s good name.

Is that all the democrat candidate is getting for his $6000 of political consulting? Somehow I would doubt that Bennion would not knowingly support this kind of trash.

I am sure Bennion is a good person, but what is with the back biting rumors that have no foundation of truth?

This same anonymous commenter appeared on my blog this morning. I asked for proof of the allegations which, surprise surprise, the poster has yet to provide.

I applaud you on your taking this person to task. While it one thing to disagree on policy matters, but to trade in rumor and innuendo is not conducive to real discussion.

@JMF - Such a ticket would be easy for the media to produce if it existed. Time will tell. Like I said before, this is a recent rumor for my ears so my gut feel is someone is making things up. Perhaps this new one has appeared in response to the fact that Steven Lund set the NuSkin rumors to rest in Utah County. Just because the rumors are coming from Republican circles doesn't make them any more true. Jason Chaffetz took down a prominent Republican incumbent. I'm sure that pissed off more than one person benefiting from the status quo.

This comes from an old episode of SNL. I think it's rather appropriate to quote this right now.

William Shatner: You know, before I answer any more questions there's something I wanted to say. Having received all your letters over the years, and I've spoken to many of you, and some of you have traveled... y'know... hundreds of miles to be here, I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!

[ a crowd of shocked and dismayed Trekkies.... ]

I mean, how old are you people? What have you done with yourselves?

[ to "Ears" ] You, you must be almost 30... have you ever kissed a girl?

[ "Ears" hangs his head ]

I didn't think so! There's a whole world out there! When I was your age, I didn't watch television! I LIVED! So... move out of your parent's basements! And get your own apartments and GROW THE HELL UP! I mean, it's just a TV show dammit, IT'S JUST A TV SHOW!

Charlie: Are- are you saying then that we should pay more attention to the movies?

William Shatner: NO!!! THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M SAYING AT ALL!!! HEY, YOU GUYS ARE... THE LAMEST BUNCH... I'VE NEVER SEEN... [ walks away from podium ] I can't believe these people... I mean, I really can't understand what's....

The buzz in Republican circles is that Jason was given a ticket in San Francisco for exsposing himself to a Transvestite.

I haven't heard this from Dems, but these rumors are rampant in Utah County.

Hey Anon-y-mouse,

Is it true you are no longer beating your wife?

I've been a Chaffetz supporter for a while. I've seen the anonymous comments that crop up, and I've taken the opportunity to ask Jason Chaffetz about them. Aside from his personal denials (of course he will deny, that's why the rumors keep coming back.) there are other reasons to reject the rumors.

The Tribune did a whole story line on Chaffetz leaving the Governor's office back when it actually happened. They couldn't find any reason for his departure other than his stated reason that he was ready to move on.

As for "what happened in SF in the late '80s?" I would say, "Major Earthquake?" That's a new one; I haven't seen that one before now.

Jason was recently introduced at a Utah County Women's Republican Club by NuSkin founder and owner Steven Lund who stated he had only recently heard of the rumors about Jason's service there and that there wasn't a shred of truth to them. Mr. Lund has also been a contributor to the Chaffetz campaign.

Some of these rumors were floating around while Chaffetz was running Huntsman's campaign. Nothing more has ever been produced, because there is IMO nothing to produce.

You didn't mention, or perhaps your letter didn't include, that these rumors are typically accompanied by claims that the press has all the details and is holding on to the story to release it at the most opportune time. I'm sure you know about that agreement that all of the media signed to coordinate the timing of all news stories with each other, right?

The Tribune did a whole story line on Chaffetz leaving the Governor’s office back when it actually happened. They couldn’t find any reason for his departure other than his stated reason that he was ready to move on.

As for “what happened in SF in the late ’80s?” I would say, “Major Earthquake?” That’s a new one; I haven’t seen that one before now.

Jason was recently introduced at a Utah County Women’s Republican Club by NuSkin founder and owner Steven Lund who stated he had only recently heard of the rumors about Jason’s service there and that there wasn’t a shred of truth to them. Mr. Lund has also been a contributor to the Chaffetz campaign.

Some of these rumors were floating around while Chaffetz was running Huntsman’s campaign. Nothing more has ever been produced, because there is IMO nothing to produce.

You didn’t mention, or perhaps your letter didn’t include, that these rumors are typically accompanied by claims that the press has all the details and is holding on to the story to release it at the most opportune time. I’m sure you know about that agreement that all of the media signed to coordinate the timing of all news stories with each other, right?

I have had the following exchange with the author of those questions on "Utah Amicus: and as you can see, the author is not very reliable and has nothing to back up his claims. I called him out on his innuendo's and his response was pretty tepid:

Here's my response to his questons, and then his response to me:
------------------------------------------

To the author of “Questions for Jason”:

Some of these questions Jason Chaffetz HAS answered. For example, you asked “What is the truth behind your resignation from Governor Huntsman’s office?”

On October 11th, 2005 the Deseret news reported: ” There was no specific occurrence or incident that caused him to leave, Chaffetz said, except that he wants to earn more money and spend more time with his young family — he has three children.

“As we all know, being chief of staff is a 365-day-a-year job,” he said.

Chaffetz also took a bad spill from a ladder earlier this year, and rehabilitation on his injured heel is painful and lengthy, he said.”

So Chaffetz did answer that question. I gave you the source and citation, look it up yourself. Then make sure you display some honor and integrity by publicly correcting your erroneous statement as often as you have posted them.

As for the rest of your questions, I have been searching the internet for several hours for anything about Chaffetz and San Fransisco, or reimbursements, or stolen property…and I have found zero references to any of them.

That is so odd…with the world wide web, valid items get duplicated over and over, yet there is ZERO mentions of any of these things anywhere on the net. (that’s zero as in “zip”, “zilch”, “nada” and “none whatsoever”

Therefore, it is logical that Jason hasn’t answered these questions because he has never yet been asked the questions…and Chaffetz could not have been asked these innuendo laden questions before because you have just now made them up and posted them here for the first time ever.

However, I’ll take a stab at them for you:

“What happened in San Fransisco in the late 1980’s” - This is an easy question to answer. Among other things, There was a big earthquake during the World Series in October 1989, and the band “Journey” had a great concert that year.

Did that clear things up for you?

As for the credit card reimbursements and acquiring property that didn’t belong to Mr Chaffetz, I can unequivocally state that Mr. Chaffetz has not done either of those things. Unless you can prove otherwise, with citations and sources, please refrain from ad hominem attacks and focus on real issues. (It makes you look really unethical, and I’m sure that’s not the case, right?)

The “Colorado Strategy” that Democrats have used successfully in Colorado to throw out meaningless made up innuendos, (i.e. just like your questions here) a few days before the election wont work here in Utah.
---------------------------------------
Questions for Jason then responded to me:

Questions for Jason
-------------------------
First of all, I’m an independent voter, not affiliated with the democrats or republicans any more.

Second, All Jason and his team of commentators have done is try to spread innuendo about Spencer.

These question have been brought up before and since the convention. As an employer I know that people who are let go are given an out. It is easy for Huntsman to say, he left, when he did leave because if he didn’t he was going to be fired.

Jason can keep getting lucky, but eventually Jason will toe tap his way into history and then Utah can be embarrassed just like those who voted for Larry Craig.

I then responded to this post, but so far Utah Amicus moderator hasn't posted it.
