Typographical Rant of the Day – Arial: Only good for a goth girl birthday card.

Posted By on March 16, 2010

I HATE HATE HATE Arial. I’ve hated it for years. The most consistent piece of advice I’ve given to Democratic Candidates over the years is:  “If you use Arial on your campaign literature, you’re telling everyone who looks at it that you’re just as big of a candyass as they already think you are.”

The only font I hate more, deservedly so, is Comic Sans. WTF kind of message are you sending when you use that turd of font on something official? You’re telling people that you’re a giant wussy who won’t take anything seriously, ever.

I was very happy when Office 2007 kicked Arial in favor of Calibri as the default font. It’s a lot prettier.
