It’s not enough to have good ideas.
It’s not enough to have a good message.
It’s not enough to have your heart in the right place.
You have to be able to deliver.
More than anything else in this campaign, I’m trying to put forward the idea that we, Democrats in Utah, can do great things, and that we can do them on a much larger scale, with a much smaller budget and with a significantly improved rate of return.
The Party does as much as it currently can; and as good as it is, it’s nowhere near good enough. It’s not a matter of personality as much as it’s a lack of a modern skill set. The Party is currently locked in the procedures, strategies and habits of campaigning as it was 20-30 years ago. Those are solid foundations and we should keep at working in the best practices of those traditions.
I propose that modern technology – and I’m talking about much, much more than just the internet – will make it easier to communicate at and above the level of – for example – the Republicans in the Utah Senate and light years past where the Party operates now.
I’ll be laying out my plans and strategies over the next few weeks for how the Utah Democratic Party can improve message packaging, identity branding and, most importantly, message delivery.
Victory is nothing more than better name recognition.
Success is nothing more than doing a better job at delivering the message.
